20th KGA Public Links Championship

Zac Burton Wins 20th KGA Public Links

After a final round 4-under par 68, Manhattan's Zac Burton claimed the 20th KGA Public Links Championship at Colbert Hills Golf Course in Manhattan.  Burton finished the 36-hole championship at 5-under par 139 total which was good for a two shot victory.  Burton started the day two shots back of the lead which was held overnight by 2001 Kansas Amateur champion Matt Williams and KGA veteran Steve Newman after they finished the first round with 3-under par 69's.  Junction City's Brian Fehr finished in the runner-up position after consecutive under par rounds of 70 and 71.  2013 Kansas Amateur champion Chase Hanna and KGA veteran Steve Newman finished in a tie for third at 1-over par 145.  Thank you all the participants as well as the staff of Colbert Hills for a great weekend!

Entry Fee and Deadline

$160.  Deadline for entry is Sunday, May 25th at 4:00 pm.


36 holes of individual stroke play with gross and net scoring.  Overall Champion to be determined.  The event may be shortened to 18 holes if weather cancels either round.  Gift certificates from the host club will be awarded in amounts to be determined based on the number of total entries within each division.


Three age divisions with gross and net scoring: 25 & Under, 26 to 49, 50 & Older.

Course Set-Up

The golf course will be set-up at approximately:
- 6,650 yards (all participants)

Practice Round

Colbert Hills Golf Course is a public facility.  Practice rounds are available at the discretion and fee set by the host club.  Please call (785) 776-6475 to arrange a practice round.

Clubhouse and Practice Facilities

Clubhouse and practice facilities open one hour prior to the first starting time.  Practice facilities are for tournament contestants use only.

Benjamin Lowman - 2013 ChampionDefending Champion

Manhattan's Benjamin Lowman claimed his first KGA championship in 2013 at Auburn Hills Golf Course in Wichita.  Following an opening round 2-over par 74, Lowman rallied with a final round 4-under par 68 to close the championship at 2-under par 142 total.  Wichita's Steve Newman finished one shot back at 72-71--143.

Carts, Spectators and Caddies

Carts are included for both rounds of the championship as part of your entry fee.  Only two carts are allowed per starting time.  Spectators and caddies are always welcome at KGA Championships.

There will be no registration at this event.  You are responsible to be at your assigned starting tee at least five (5) minutes prior to your scheduled starting time.  This will give you adequate time to receive instructions and information from the Starter.

Score Posting

Scores from each round of this championship will be posted to the GHIN Handicap System using ESC (equitable stroke control).

Close of Competition

The competition shall be deemed to have closed when the symbolic prize for the event has been presented, or if no ceremony, when all scores and results have been approved by the Committee.
