Male amateurs age 50 or older as of August 14, 2017.  Must be a KGA member.

Entry Fee and Deadline

$190.  Deadline for entry is Friday, August 4th at 4:00 pm.


36 holes of individual stroke play with two divisions.  Players that wish to compete for the overall championship must enter the Championship Division.  Champion to be determined in each division.  The event may be shortened to 18 holes if weather cancels either round.  Gift certificates from the host club will be awarded in amounts to be determined based on the number of total entries within each division.


Two divisions:

  • Championship (any age - gross & net)
  • Super Senior (age 60 & older - gross & net)

Players that wish to compete for the overall championship must enter the Championship Division.

Course Set-Up

The golf course will be set-up at approximately:

  • 6,600 yards (Championship Division)
  • 6,200 yards (Super Senior Division)

Practice Round

A practice round is included as part of your entry fee.  The official practice round is on Sunday, August 13th with practice round times available after 1:00 pm.  Players should call the Wichita Country Club golf shop to arrange for a practice round starting time for Sunday, August 13th.

Players are responsible for the cart fee during any practice round.  Cart fee for the practice round must be paid with cash only.  The cost is $22 per player.  Credit cards not accepted for payment for practice round cart fee.

Clubhouse and Practice Facilities

Clubhouse and practice facilities open one hour prior to the first starting time.  Practice facilities are for tournament contestants use only.

Defending Champions

Rolling Hills Country Club member Kevin Belknap defeated defending Senior Amateur champion Tim McKinnis, Lyons, on the second sudden death playoff hole to capture his first KGA championship.  Belknap and McKinnis both finished at at 5-under par 139 total after both players posted 69-70 in the 36-hole championship.  In the Super Senior Division, KGA veteran Richard Stuntz of Lawrence repeated as champion after edging Wichita resident Ben York by one shot.  Stuntz posted rounds of 74-70-144.

Carts, Spectators and Caddies

Carts are included for both rounds of the championship as part of your entry fee (practice round not included--see above).  Only two carts are allowed per starting time.  Spectators and caddies are always welcome at KGA Championships.

There will be no registration at this event.  You are responsible to be at your assigned starting tee at least five (5) minutes prior to your scheduled starting time.  This will give you adequate time to receive instructions and information from the Starter.

Score Posting

Scores from each round of this championship will be posted to the GHIN Handicap System using ESC (equitable stroke control).

Method of Payments

Wichita Country Club accepts cash only for practice round cart fee ($22 per player) and any food & beverage purchases.  Golf shop merchandise purchases can be paid with credit card.

Close of Competition

The competition shall be deemed to have closed when the symbolic prize for the event has been presented, or if no ceremony, when all scores and results have been approved by the Committee.
