Eligibility


Male amateurs age 50 or older as of August 13, 2018.  Must be a KGA member.

Entry Fee and Deadline

$190.  Deadline for entry is Monday, August 6th at 4:00 pm.

Format

36 holes of individual stroke play with two divisions.  Players that wish to compete for the overall championship must enter the Championship Division.  Champion to be determined in each division.  The event may be shortened to 18 holes if weather cancels either round.  Gift certificates from the host club will be awarded in amounts to be determined based on the number of total entries within each division.

Divisions

Two divisions:

  • Senior (any age - gross & net)
  • Super Senior (age 60 & older - gross & net)

Players that wish to compete for the overall championship must enter the Senior Division.

Course Set-Up

The golf course will be set-up at approximately:

  • 6,150 yards (Senior Division)
  • 5,900 yards (Super Senior Division)


Practice Round

A practice round is included as part of your entry fee.  The official practice round is on Sunday, August 12th.  Please contact the golf shop at Salina Country Club to arrange your practice round starting time. 

The cost of golf cart in the practice round is at the player's expense.  The host club accepts cash or credit card.


Clubhouse and Practice Facilities

Clubhouse and practice facilities open one hour prior to the first starting time.  Practice facilities are for tournament contestants use only.

Defending Champions

Pittsburg's Steve Sloan earned his first KGA championship in 2017 at Wichita Country Club.  Sloan posted rounds of 69-71--140 to finish four shots ahead of runner-up Eric Mork of Wichita.  In the Super Senior Division, Wichita Country Club member Stephen McKinney was victorious after edging defending division champion KGA veteran Richard Stuntz of Lawrence.  McKinney's rounds of 73-71--144 were enough to claim his first KGA championship.

Carts, Spectators and Caddies

Carts are included for both rounds of the championship as part of your entry fee (practice round not included--see above).  Only two carts are allowed per starting time.  Spectators and caddies are always welcome at KGA Championships.

Registration

There will be no registration at this event.  You are responsible to be at your assigned starting tee at least five (5) minutes prior to your scheduled starting time.  This will give you adequate time to receive instructions and information from the Starter.

Score Posting


Scores from each round of this championship will be posted to the GHIN Handicap System using ESC (equitable stroke control).

Close of Competition

The competition shall be deemed to have closed when the symbolic prize for the event has been presented, or if no ceremony, when all scores and results have been approved by the Committee.
