2019 Playoff Information


Colbert Hills Golf Course - 2019 Kansas Cup Champions


QUARTERFINAL ROUND

The winner of each of the eight divisions will qualify for the 2019 Kansas Cup Playoffs.  The Quarterfinal Round matches and host courses is detailed below.  Tie breaking procedures to determine playoff qualifiers is detailed below.  The Quarterfinal Round playoff matches must be played by September 8th.

Note: Regular season divisional matches that end in a 3.5 to 3.5 point tie will count as a half point win when calculating total wins when breaking ties for playoff qualification to determine division winners, the wildcard playoff team qualifier and playoff bracket seeding.


BREAKING TIES FOR DIVISION WINNERS:

The team with the most overall wins (including ties) will be the division winner.  If two teams in a division end up the regular season with the same number of division wins (including ties which count for a 1/2 point match win), the tie shall be broken based on the following criteria, in order of their application:

  1. Head-to-head division wins between the tied teams.  If teams split divisional matches;
  2. The team with the largest number of points earned in its divisional matches.  If still tied,
  3. The team with the largest number of singles points earned in its division matches.  If still tied,
  4. Lot


DETERMINING SEEDS FOR PLAYOFF QUARTERFINAL BRACKET:

All teams in the playoffs shall be seeded based upon regular season division results. Teams will be seeded based on the following criteria, in order of their application:

  1. Largest number of division wins (including match ties which count as 1/2 point match win).  If still tied,
  2. Largest number of points earned in its divisional matches.  If still tied,
  3. Largest number of singles points earned in its division matches.  If still tied,
  4. Lot

DETERMINING HOST VENUE FOR PLAYOFF QUARTERFINAL ROUND:

Division winners will be bracketed and seeded #1 through #8 with the playoff quarterfinal match being hosted by the team with the better seed.  Captains for the two teams involved in the Quarterfinal Round Match should work together to find a date that works for both teams to play the match.  Requested play by date is Sunday, September 8th.

Quarterfinal #1 - #1 - Wichita CC def. #8 - Buffalo Dunes GC, 5.5 to 1.5

Quarterfinal #2 - #4 - Salina CC def. #5 - Manhattan CC, 5 to 2

Quarterfinal #3 - #2 - Colbert Hills GC def. #7 - Paola CC, 5 to 2

Quarterfinal #4 - #3 - Eagle Bend GC def. #6 - Wellington GC, 4 to 3

SEMIFINAL ROUND

The four quarterfinal winners will advance to the "final four weekend" championship matches to be held at Eagle Bend Golf Course (Lawrence, KS) on Friday, September 13th.  Tee times will begin at 1:00 pm.  Semifinal match starting times will be interweaved.

Semifinal #1 - Quarterfinal #1 winner (Wichita CC) def. Quarterfinal #2 winner (Salina CC)

Semifinal #2 - Quarterfinal #3 winner (Colbert Hills GC) def. Quarterfinal #4 winner (Eagle Bend GC)

COOKOUT

Following completion of the semifinal matches, a buffet cookout with beverages will be provided to all contestants.

TEES & FORMAT

The following matches shall be played from the back or championship tees:  Professional/Amateur Four-Ball Match and the Open Single Match.

GOLD TEES at Eagle Bend GC7,000 yards (73.3/131)

The following matches shall be played from the middle tees: Open/Senior Mixed Modified Chapman Match, Open Handicap Four-Ball Match, Senior Handicap Four-Ball Match, Open/Senior Mixed Four-Ball Match and the Senior Single Match.

BLUE TEES at Eagle Bend GC – 6,300 yards (70.9/124)


FINAL ROUND

The two clubs advancing to the championship round of the Kansas Cup shall compete for the title at Eagle Bend Golf Course (Lawrence, KS) on Saturday, September 14th.  Tee times will begin at 9:00 am.

Trophy presentation and team photos following the completion of the final match at the course for both teams that advance to the Kansas Cup Finals.


PLAYOFF MATCH TIED AFTER COMPLETION OF INDIVIDUAL MATCHES (IN PLAYOFFS ONLY):


In the event of a 3.5-point to 3.5-point tie at the conclusion of the nine matches, a playoff shall be conducted according to the following procedures and matches involved:

The Open (non-Senior) Singles Match players, the Open/Senior Mixed Modified Chapman Match teams, and the Open/Senior Mixed Four-Ball Match teams.  There will then be three matches played, each at sudden death starting from hole #1.  This means there will be three points at stake in sudden death.  The team that wins two points shall win the match.  Note: all three sudden death matches must be contested against the same opponent.  

PLAYER ELIGIBILITY IN PLAYOFFS:

When a club qualifies for the 2019 Kansas Cup playoffs, it must use only club members that had previously played in at least one 2019 Kansas Cup match (during the home-and-home divisional play).  This rule does not apply to golf professionals that work at club's participating in Kansas Cup.  Note: Players that were scheduled to play in a forfeited or postponed match are eligible for playoffs.
