KGF scholars enjoying professional success

Where are they now?

In 2005, the Kansas Golf Foundation inaugurated the Kansas Junior Golf Scholarship to help deserving young men and women go to college in Kansas. Since then, 40 junior golfers have been named Junior Golf Scholars. These Scholars have attended 15 different Kansas colleges and universities, and four groups of Scholars have graduated.

Here’s a snapshot of what they’re doing now.

Scott Bird (Burlington, KU class of 2009) ... works for TradeBot Systems in Kansas City; married in 2012.

Mark Browne (Kansas City, KU 2009) ... works as an accountant for Deloitte in Kansas City.

Andrew Manley (Salina, Southwestern University 2009) ... works for Salina Regional Hospital in accounting department; married.

Lee Sewell (Ft Scott, KU 2009) ... works as a designer in DC for STUDIOS Architecture, an international architecture firm.

Whitney Pollock (Yates Center, K-State 2009) ... beginning fourth year at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, summer job working for an optometrist in Grand Junction, Colo.

Betsy Dower (Hutchinson, KU 2010) ... working for a jewelry and home decor company in Wichita.

Jim Krieger (Leavenworth, KU 2010) ... after extensive travels in Central America, now living in Kansas City working as a paralegal, considering graduate school options.

Tyler Simmons (Beloit, Wichita State 2010) ... finishing degree in Finance at WSU, working at Northwestern Mutual.

Cameron Buck (Edwardsville, KU 2011) ... working as Account Manager for 810 Radio in Kansas City.

Matt Hall (Topeka, Washburn 2011) ... works as Admissions Counselor at Washburn University.

Jennifer Clark (Piper, KU 2011) ... working at Eagle Bend Golf Course in Lawrence, doing freelance design and drawing.

Alexa Heier (Bunker Hill, 2011) ... pursuing graduate degree in Physical Therapy School at KU Med Center in Kansas City.

Ty Burgoon (Paola, Pittsburg State 2012) ... graduated in Secondary Math Education, spending a year in Wichita doing outreach for churches.

Pat Eland (Hoxie, KU 2012) ... graduated in Journalism with an emphasis in Strategic Communications, a Sociology minor and a Film and Media Studies concentration, living in Lawrence.

Amanda Holmberg (Topeka, K-State 2012) ... graduated in Accounting, works for Koch Industries in Wichita.

Alan Tajchmann (Junction City, K-State 2012) ... will graduate in December with a degree in Wildlife and Outdoor Enterprise Management, working this summer in Kodiak Island, Alaska.

Kathryn Unruh (Hays, KU 2012) ... graduated in Behavioral Neuroscience and a minor in Social and Behavioral Sciences Methodology. Graduate school at Vanderbilt University to pursue PhD in Neuroscience.
