Cottonwood Hills Finds "New Life"

When driving by the entrance to the closed Cottonwood Hills Golf Course in Hutchinson you can't help but wonder whether there might be a day the Nick Faldo-design golf course would Cottonwood Hills GC # 7reopen.  There have always been signs that some sort of minimal care of the property was taking place but overgrowth and invasive vegetation were even more apparent.

Now news comes this week that Cottonwood Hills is about to "rise from the ashes" like the proverbial Phoenix.

Wichita banker Drayton Alldritt is leading a group of other investors starting with the purchase of the golf course property and the roll out of plans to refurbish the golf course in order to open it again for public play in the spring of 2015.

This is welcome news for South Central Kansas golfers and the Kansas Golf Association.  Alldritt has already publicly indicated an interest in hosting competitions for high school and college players.   The original course layout has many interesting and challenging holes and it can be set up to test the very best golfers or modified to make a fun day for the recreational golfer.
