“Inside The Ropes” at the KGA

Ever wonder what it would be like to spend a great day on the golf course and never make a KGA rules officials Mike Morrissey helps with a player rules situationbogey?  There’s a group of Kansans that can give you a good idea how to do just that – join our group of dedicated volunteers who are truly “giving back to the game”.

The KGA has a variety of volunteer opportunities for anyone interested in helping with tournament operations, junior or senior golf programs, and course rating (a basis for the KGA/GHIN handicap system).   The need is statewide and a volunteer can be as involved as their time and interest leads them.

If you want to get “inside the ropes” at the KGA for 2014, contact either Kim Richey (Executive Director) or Casey Old (Director of Rules and Competitions) at the KGA and we will get you pointed in the right direction.  Tournament volunteers are meeting on Saturday, April 5th at Topeka Country Club.  If your interest is focused on competitions, then this is the perfect way to get started.  You would meet many veteran volunteers and learn about KGA policies and procedures.  Then you can get signed up for several great days on the golf course “without making a bogey”!
