Gotsche makes his move to Manhattan

Steve GotscheColbert Hills Golf Course will have a new golf professional in place by the end of May.  Steve Gotsche, a name well-known to Kansas golfers over the last three decades, is making the move from Great Bend to Manhattan.  Gotsche, now a senior competitive golfer, played in last year’s U.S. Senior Open at Omaha Country Club.  During his competitive career Gotsche played in several U.S. Opens and was a member of the PGA Tour.  He will bring a wealth of experience to this new post.  Manhattan golfers are in for a treat!

Kansas Jayhawks Women’s Golf Team

Coach Erin O’Neil built a team to compete in the tough Big 12 Conference.  The plan is coming together as the Jayhawk squad recently qualified for the NCAA National Championship to be held at Tulsa Country Club in Oklahoma later this week.  See the story at http://kuathletics.com/news/2014/5/18/WGOLF_0518142451.aspx?path=wgolf

National Golf Auction Coming Soon

The Golf Course Superintendents Association of America based in Lawrence will conduct its annual Rounds 4 Research golf tee time auction the week of the U.S. Open, June 9-22.  The array of golf courses for which you may bid is extensive.  This is your chance to get on THAT course!

Go to www.gcsaa.org and click on the Rounds 4 Research tab to land on the auction site.  Bidders must register in advance (it’s free!) so that bids can be placed beginning June 9th.

Grant Robbins named new Men’s Golf Coach at K-StateGrant Robbins

Now that the teams for the NCAA Men’s Golf National Championship have been determined, the athletic department at Kansas State let the “cat” out of the bag.  The university’s next men’s golf coach will be Grant Robbins.  While the name is not widely known to Kansans, Robbins has a national resume in college golf.  He will leave a successful program he built at the Memphis, a Conference USA standout program.   The complete press release from Manhattan can be seen at  http://www.kstatesports.com/sports/m-golf/spec-rel/051814aac.html

Kanza Players Cup for 2014 Raised by the East Team

Three rounds of team and individual matches over two days at Wolf Creek Golf Links last week resulted a convincing team victory for eight mid-amateur Kansas golfers from the East side of Kansas.  This is the third staging of this team match play event and the East squad now holds a 2-1 lead in this fun and competitive challenge.  Results --- Photo Gallery
