Sion Audrain Wins 108th Kansas Amateur

17-year old Sion Audrain of Garden City captured the 108th Kansas Amateur Match Play Championship on Sunday at Firekeeper Golf Course in Mayetta, KS.  Audrain, a KU golf commit and senior to be at Garden City High School, rallied from three down to come back to defeat Wichita State golfer and Mooreland, Oklahoma native Zac Owens by a 1 up margin in the 36-hole final match.

Emma Whitaker Wins Kansas Women's Amateur


Emma Whitaker of Wichita claimed the 2018 Kansas Women’s Amateur and Prairie Invitational Championships on Wednesday at Indian Hills Country Club in Mission Hills, KS.  Whitaker a 19-year golfer at Oklahoma State University bested the field of players including defending champion Kristen Samp in a sudden death playoff after both players finished at 14-over par for the 54-hole championship.

Shawnee's Nicklaus Mason claimed his first KGA championship this week at the 2018 KJGA Boys Junior Match Play Championship at Wellington Golf Club.  Mason, 15, bested the field in the round robin match play championship.  Topeka's Addison Alonzo finished in the runner-up position after a break out performance on the Kansas junior golf scene.  The Boys Junior Match Play is a 16-player invitational event which is open to the top 16 available players from the KGA Boys Junior Player of the Year points standings after the Junior Section Team Championship.  The competition features a round robin format where all players will play four matches over the two days of the tournament.

Manhattan's Chase Dillon won the 2018 Junior Section Championship on Wednesday at Wellington Golf Club in Wellington, KS.  Dillon posted back to back 1-under par 69's in the 36-hole stroke play championship while competing in the 16 & Over Division.  Colt Farrow of Andover won the 11 & Under Division after rounds of 38 and 40.  In the 12 to 13 Division, Olathe's Will King held on to win the by two shots.  In the 14 to 15 Division, Louisburg's Calvin Dillon bested the field.  In the Girls Division, Syracuse's Rylie Cooks cruised to an easy victory.  The South Section took low team honors in the team play competition.

Mason's Win 20th Parent-Child Championship

The father-son junior team of Nicklaus & Scott Mason captured the 20th KGA Parent-Child Championship on Tuesday at Terradyne Country Club in Andover.  The Mason's finished at 15-under par 127 total for the 36-hole four-ball championship.  The Mason's edged the Wichita father-son team of Matt & Mark Lazzo by one shot.  Megan & Gary Lucas took second low honors in the junior division.  Brad & Ken Eland were victorious in the open low net competition while Kinsea Jones & Judd Easterling took low honors in the net junior division.
