The West team of Corey Novascone, Pete Krsnich, Spencer Christian, Jack Courington, TJ Vilkanskas, Brian Fehr, Matt Lazzo and Elliot Soyez attempted to rally during the day two singles matches, but the comeback fell short.

Exon/Desilet Capture Gross Title, Davis/Crawford Dominate Net Scoring at Spring Triple Threat

Results

Thirty-four teams competed in the Spring Triple Threat at Crestview Country Club’s South Course this morning. Teams played six holes of Four Ball, six holes of Chapman Alternate Shot, and six holes of Scramble.  The competition awards prizes for gross and net scoring in each of three flights as well as trophies for the Overall Gross Champions and Overall Net Champions.  Players also receive points in the KGA/KCGA Women’s Player of the Year series, which is being awarded for the first time this year.

Karen Exon of Topeka and Denise Desilet of Wichita were the Overall Gross Champions firing a three-under-par 69.  The cruised through the Four Ball portion of the event carding two birdies to only one bogey.  A solid +1 performance in the Chapman format kept the team going strong, but a -3 Scramble distanced the team from the field to claim the title.

Jan Davis and Barbara Crawford led all the way with stellar play in all three formats.  A -3 Four Ball to go with a -6 Chapman stretch and a -6 Scramble made the pair wire-to-wire leaders.  A net eagle on #13 along with birdies on both par 3s in the final holes made it difficult for the rest of the field to keep pace.

Propelled by a final round 8-under par 64, Jason Seeman and David Rismiller claimed the 30th Kansas Four-Ball Championship on Sunday at Eagle Bend Golf Course in Lawrence.  Seeman/Rismiller found themselves tied for the lead with William Gantz and Tyler Cummins at 13-under par 131 after 36-holes were completed.  On the third sudden death playoff hole, Seeman rolled in a birdie putt to secure the team victory.  The championship also served as a qualifier for the Heart of America Four-Ball Match Play Championship that is co-hosted by the KGA and KCGA each year in early August.  The top eight available teams from the Open Division of the Kansas Four-Ball will be invited to participate in the match play event.

In the Masters Division, Bob Bezek and Dick Stuntz posted a final round 9-under par 63 to rocket up the leaderboard and best defending champions Gary Lucas and Dave Carson by one shot.  Bezek and Stuntz finished at 13-under par 131 total. Thank you to the full field of teams for your participation and to the staff and patrons at Eagle Bend Golf Course for hosting the annual championship!
