Each summer the top Kansas junior golfers based upon their standing on the Junior Player of the Year points list will represent Kansas in two interstate Ryder Cup/Walker Cup style competitions. To be eligible to earn points a junior golfer must be at least 14 years of age and a member of the Kansas Junior Golf Association in good standing. The teams are named after the Junior Match Play Championship.

KANSAS-NEBRASKA JUNIOR CUP MATCHES
Every summer the Kansas Junior Golf Association selects a team of eight (8) junior golfers to compete against their counterparts from Nebraska. In order to compete on the Kansas team, a junior golfer must be at least 14 years of age and a member of the KJGA. Then, throughout the summer the junior golfer may compete for junior player of the year points at various tournaments at the local, state and national levels. At the conclusion of the Kansas Junior Match Play Championship, the top eight available points leaders are invited to represent the state of Kansas against Nebraska.
The first Cup Matches were held at Alvamar Country Club in Lawrence in 1986. The matches are played like the Ryder Cup, the team members are first paired for four-ball matches and foursome matches on day one. The second day consists of singles matches. Each match is worth one point, the team with the most points takes control of the traveling trophy for the upcoming year. Through the first 27 years of competition, Kansas leads the series 14 to 13.

OZARK JUNIOR CHALLENGE
Every summer the Kansas Junior Golf Association selects a team of five (5) junior golfers to compete against their counterparts from Arkansas and Missouri in a stroke play format college style competition. In order to compete on the Kansas team, a junior golfer must be at least 14 years of age and a member of the KJGA. Then, throughout the summer the junior golfer may compete for junior player of the year points at various tournaments at the local, state and national levels. At the conclusion of the Kansas Junior Match Play Championship, the top five available points leaders are invited to represent the state of Kansas against the other two states. The Ozark Junior Challenge was discontinued prior to 2009 due to lack of interest from the Arkansas and Oklahoma golf associations.
